Trente jeunes activistes et journalistes béninois se sont réunis en janvier 2026 à l’hôtel Le Doppel de Bohicon, dans le cadre du projet, Benin Youth Climate Reporting Academy. Cette initiative de l’ONG Save Our Planet soutenue par la Earth Rising Foundation et Arete Arts Foundation, avait pour objectif de renforcer les capacités de ces jeunes venus de Bassila, Parakou, Abomey – Calavi, Ketou, Porto-Novo, Savalou, Zogbodomey et Bohicon.

Pendant deux jours, les participants se sont formés aux enjeux des changements climatiques, de la justice climatique, et aux techniques de narration et de production médiatique spécifiques pour un impact décisionnel.

Les formations ont été dispensées par un quatuor d’experts : Megan Valère Sossou, environnementaliste spécialiste du climat, Rachida Houssou, Journaliste ; Dr William TCHOKI, Journaliste environnementaliste ; et Modeste GLIN, Journaliste.

A new generation of climate reporters has sprouted in Bohicon

Thirty young Beninese activists and journalists gathered on January, 2026, at Le Doppel hotel in Bohicon, as part of the Benin Youth Climate Reporting Academy project. This initiative by the NGO Save Our Planet, supported by the Earth Rising Foundation and the Arete Arts Foundation, aimed to strengthen the capacities of these young people who came from Bassila, Parakou, Abomey-Calavi, Ketou, Porto-Novo, Savalou, Zogbodomey, and Bohicon.

For two days, participants were trained on the issues of climate change, climate justice, and on specific storytelling and media production techniques for policy impact.

The training sessions were delivered by a quartet of experts: Megan Valère Sossou, a climate specialist environmentalist; Rachida Houssou, Journalist; Dr. William TCHOKI, Environmental Journalist; and Modeste GLIN, Journalist.
